I found out that the tablet will work properly if the laptop is just running on battery power, which means that I get a whole hour of drawing at a time. But it’s still better than palsy cursor. Anyway, enjoy the first image of the new tablet – despite it’s severe problems, you can really see the difference in quality.

ok, so it turns out that the problem with my tablet is that it is in the vicinity of my laptop monitor. That’s right, a certain percentage of Wacom tablets cannot be used around a computer monitor. I can use it on the floor four feet away from the computer, but obviously this is not going to work for me.
If it isn’t the monitor causing the problem, then perhaps it is the am radio frequency that is picked up by the speakers and the internet cable, so I’m going to see if removing them will help, but I suspect that it’s the monitor after all.
this is really frustrating.
Recently my new tablet broke, or quit working, or there is a software conflict or a poltergeist or something. When I looked up the problem I found out that it’s a fairly common side-effect of having Vista instead of a sensible operating system. So please, do not buy a Bamboo Fun tablet. It fails.
If you want to know exactly what the problem is, I can only describe it as sort of like trying to hold a quiet discussion with someone who has snorted too much cocaine and then shot himself in the leg. The pad has become sensitive to all pressure or touch, not just the pen. More irritating than that, even if I just plug it in, the cursor jumps all over the screen and starts opening and closing windows and files.
The problem came up after the return deadline for The Source (damn them), so I am currently seeking some tech support from Wacom’s Steven Kang (probably not his real name – I don’t use my real name at the call centre I work at, for fear of vengeance). I hope that he can help me fix my tablet. I hate having a schizo tablet. It’s so inconvenient.
So until I get this sorted out the only comics I post will be unedited and hand-drawn.
When my friends asked me to put all my comics up in one place – which, incidentally, they were – my complaint was that I wouldn’t be able to keep up a regular weekly schedule. And I was right, so now that the pressure is off I can relax. And I thought of a fitting title for my comics.
